California Mishegoss
In a country full of “Me” we need to shift that narrative to “We”. Chad of the Valley@HarmsWayChad
We hope everyone had a fantastic New Year. Now it’s time to get back to things here at California Mishegoss.
While I planned on taking some time off due to some medical concerns, Patti convinced me that having time on my hands wasn’t good for my mental state. Of course, she was correct, and I took her advice and decided to keep things going only slightly differently.
I mentioned the other day our goals for the coming year. They were the same goals last year, and they’ll probably always be our goals. As much as growth is significant, content is more important to us.
After publishing the newsletter each day, I go to the analytics to check if the newsletter was well received. It’s my way of knowing how we did and what didn’t do correctly with the picks we chose.
We don’t always make the right choices, but we don’t always have great options to pick from, so I try to find what is best and post them. Sometimes I’m not happy with the posts, but I promised a newsletter daily, and I want to deliver.
That’s not the best way to run, publish, and write a newsletter. We should only post and publish stories we feel are suitable for our readers and what we think are worth sharing, not just stories to fill up a page.
With that in mind, California Mishegoss is going weekly. This decision isn’t about the amount of work to publish a daily newsletter. Heck, we only have to find two stories a day. As I said, it isn’t easy, but it can be done.
Although, our picks sometimes are at a cost to you. We can’t live with that, and our goal for 2022 is to change that with a weekly newsletter.
California Mishegoss will come out Saturday mornings. Probably between 8-10 am. We don’t know if that is a good time for you or us, but Saturday mornings back in the days when I was a stockbroker were the best times to reach people and usually get them to not only talk but talk nicely and not hang up.
So the thinning on my part, not Patti’s, is that if we publish on a Saturday morning, you’ll have the rest of the day and Sunday to check out what we’re sharing for the week.
As for the content, the newsletter will have roughly 6-8 stories we felt were worth sharing with you that week. Plus, there will be a personal take on our stories, so you’ll know why we posted them.
I’ve wanted to do that for some time, and going weekly will allow me the opportunity to spend more time reading and editing the newsletter for a better reading experience.
We created this newsletter with the concept of giving people alternative news and culture that would get them talking. Stories that would inspire and not be depressing. Stories that weren’t top stories but still had meaning and needed telling. Stories that were worth talking about on social channels and settings.
We hope you’ll see and appreciate the changes we are making for 2022. If you don’t agree or like where we are going, let us know, we’d enjoy hearing from you. If, on the other hand, you are enjoying the change, please let others know so they can enjoy the newsletter and if you don’t mind us also. We would enjoy hearing about that also.
Welcome to 2022, and we wish you excellent health, prosperity, and of course, you and your family’s safety this year.
Be Well! Stay Safe!
