Good Evening Friends!
It’s another beautiful day here in Fresno. We keep inching closer to total fall weather with each passing day.
We posted two stories today about how the Central Valley is tackling mental health for adults and kids. Valley Children’s Hospital is opening up a new Behavioral Mental Health Wing. Here’s a little taste.
Valley Children’s is teaming up with Universal Health Services to create a 128-bed behavioral health hospital on their Madera campus. Twenty-four of those beds will be dedicated just for children aged from 5 to 17.
The facility will be open for adults needing behavioral health care as well, with specialty programs for adults being offered.
Seems promising for the Valley!
The other post is a story about “Delusions.” A fascinating read from a student at Berkeley. Here’s a little bit.
All my adult life I have resided on the psychotic spectrum, a set of serious mental disorders that interfere with properly interpreting stimuli, resulting in social, emotional, and cognitive difficulties—what I call my “thought problems.”
Enjoy these two reads. As a person with mental health issues, depression, and ADHD, I like that addressing these needs is coming to the forefront in the Valley. It’s about time!
Of course, there’s more…
- Fabio with a great fish recipe
- Indigenous tribes break state laws to live
- From Yale to being homeless on the streets of LA
- Protecting Killer Whales
Just some of what’s below. So get to reading and relaxing and we will see you on Sunday!
